UK academic hiring slow…
Informally, it seems like based on the two main job sites for UK academic posts, Jobs.ac.uk and THES, that the job market for law academics have dropped off quite a bit in the past 2 months or so. Seems like it is mostly more senior positions and PhD studentships that are on offer at the moment. My guess is that this is the result of the RAE, and that many universities don’t have room left in their budget to take on new academic staff. Of course part of it is the time of year with the start of the new term.
